📣 Highlights
SPOTLIGHT: EA Philippines Trivia Night Socials
Last April 26, EA Philippines held a Trivia Night socials! In this socials, we played a series of trivia games and other fund card games for a night of fun and laughter. Thank you to everyone who attended this event!
🇵🇭 Philippine EA: Local News
Our local EA-aligned initiatives and organizations are continuing their tremendous work in doing the most good they can. We’d like to highlight and commend the recent milestones and achievements of the following local EA initiatives:
EA Davao. EA Davao has accepted applications to their upcoming Introductory Fellowship, with applications still running for those who would like to participate. The Introductory Fellowship is a hybrid, six-week course where fellows based in Davao City can delve into a discussion group to learn and discuss about Effective Altruism’s concepts and causes. You can see their syllabus here and, if you are based in Davao City, apply here.
Animal Empathy Philippines. Animal Empathy Philippines recently gave a talk on animal welfare advocacy in Ateneo de Manila University as part of the SOSE Community Month Advocacy & Socials Night.

Probably Good Career Advising Service - link
Probably Good has relaunched their 1-1 career advising services, after refining their approach and expanding their capacity. The advising is open to people at all career stages who want to have a positive impact across a range of cause areas.
Horizon Institute for Public Service
Applications are open for Horizon’s Career Accelerator. This part-time, remote, 9-month program supports students and mid-career professionals in launching AI-focused public policy careers. Participants receive mentorship, training, funding opportunities, application support, and access to a network of policy leaders and peers.

Horizon also launched applications for an AI Innovation & Security Policy Workshop happening in Washington, DC in July. Through hands-on sessions, expert panels, and networking opportunities, participants will gain practical insights into policy careers and develop the skills needed to effectively bridge the gap between the technology and policy worlds.

Institute for AI Policy and Strategy AI Policy Fellowship 2025 - link
Applications are open for the IAPS AI Policy Fellowship 2025. This fully-funded, three-month program is designed for professionals from diverse backgrounds who want to develop practical policy skills for addressing the challenges and opportunities of advanced AI. The fellowship runs from September 1 to November 21, 2025, in Washington, D.C., and remotely.

Global Health & Wellbeing (GHW) groups - link
Melanie Basnak, a GHW grantmaker at Open Philanthropy, recently shared that they’re interested in supporting action-focused GHW student groups and policy-focused grad student groups. Global EA-related News
Zachary Robinson shared CEA’s 2025–26 strategy to steward the EA community with a focus on growth, sustainability, and resilience. Our goals include expanding EA’s reach post-FTX, improving the EA brand, diversifying funding, and strengthening CEA as an independent organization.
EA Funds and the Centre for Effective Altruism (CEA) will be merging into a single organization under the name CEA as they both spin out from Effective Ventures. This strategic merger aims to make EA Funds more robust, reliable and impactful and we believe it will better achieve our shared mission of building a radically better world.
Max Taylor shared reflections on how animal advocacy strategy should adapt to the potential emergence of AGI in the next 5–10 years. They explored the risks and opportunities AGI could present for animals and outlined concrete actions the movement could take now to influence AGI development in animals' favor.
Rethink Priorities' Worldview Investigations Team wrote about the distribution and value of different types of prioritization work, finding that EA organizations overwhelmingly focus on within-cause prioritization (89%), with much less on cause (9%) and cross-cause (2%) prioritization.
GiveWell responded to major US foreign aid cuts, which threaten global health interventions like malaria prevention and child malnutrition programs, by directing $15M toward urgent needs and exploring over $100M in potential grants.
Sam Anschell shared why policy school can be an excellent opportunity and offered practical application tips. They highlighted surprising funding options, low selectivity, the value of applying broadly, and advice on essays, recommenders, and low-cost admissions consultants.
Giving What We Can shared that it’s retiring 10 initiatives to better focus its resources on core strategic goals. This move includes closing or transferring projects like Giving Games, Charity Elections, and the Donor Lottery to prioritize growing the Pledge and expanding effective giving globally. CEA will be taking on their giving games resources. Additionally, they announced their 2025 strategy.
Ulaş shared a comprehensive onboarding strategy for EA university groups, based on experience growing a group from scratch to a 9-person team. The post emphasizes identifying highly engaged members, using 1-1s, offering “Trial Board Memberships,” and fostering ownership, mentorship, and community to scale impact.
NetGood is a new nonprofit trying to prevent money from being wasted in politics by redirecting it to charities, with a novel and incentive compatible mechanism.
