Upcoming: EA In-Depth Fellowship 2025
EA Philippines will be running its first program of the year, an EA In-Depth Fellowship!
This is a program intended to help fellows deepen their understanding of Effective Altruism (EA) and how they can increase their impact. It aims to explore questions like:
How do I know what I think I know?
What do I morally value?
How should I plan my career?
Should I focus on near-term impact or long-term impact?
How do I account for the indirect effects of my actions?
Applications are set to open this March so stay tuned!
🇵🇭 Philippine EA: Local News
Our local EA-aligned initiatives and organizations are continuing their tremendous work in doing the most good they can. We’d like to highlight and commend the recent milestones and achievements of the following local EA initiatives:
Southeast Asia Biosecurity. Southeast Asia Biosecurity, currently organized by Kirsten Angeles and P.T. Nhean, just launched their February newsletter edition, which you can sign up for through this link.
Animal Empathy Philippines. Animal Empathy Philippines was recently a part of Ateneo LoveBox 2025. On February 20, they hosted an Advocacy Talk at the MVP Roofdeck, where Co-Founder and Executive Director, Kate Lupango, shared insights on how we can take action and stand up for the rights of every animal. Additionally, Animal Empathy Philippines recently kicked off an exciting initiative for farmed animals in Iloilo. After a productive meeting with the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian-Iloilo and the University of San Agustin Research and Development Foundation, Inc., they were empowered to take meaningful steps toward creating a kinder, more compassionate world for farmed animals. With the support of these organizations, they began laying the foundation for initiatives that will spark positive change not only in Iloilo but across the country.
