Hello!
July was quite eventful with the launch of the EA Philippines Introductory Fellowship applications, running our first casual outdoor socials event, and the launch of a new chapter, EA Davao. We hope this excites you for the future of EA in the Philippines!
And as the rainy season has been quite disastrous lately, we are wishing for everyone’s safety. This is a reminder to be mindful of emergency hotlines and to stay up to date with your area's weather and news.
See EA Philippines’ thoughts on the recent typhoons, resources on where to give, and how to prevent future disasters by Nastassja Quijano and Brian Tan.
Best of luck this August!

EA Philippines Introductory Fellowship Applications
Last July 16, EA Philippines launched applications for its introductory Fellowship! It is Effective Altruism’s flagship program where fellows learn the basics of the philosophy and movement. This iteration is a 7-week program catered to 18-25-year-old Filipinos.
EA Philippines runs its first Nature Walk!
Despite the rainy July we’ve had recently, the community was able to get together for a bright and sunny morning last July 22! In the Grand Stand of UP Diliman, some members partook in casual discussions while others took a walk along the university’s oval.

🇵🇭 Philippine EA: Local News
Our local EA-aligned initiatives and organizations are continuing their tremendous work in doing the most good they can. We’d like to highlight and commend the recent milestones and achievements of the following local EA initiatives:
Phlourish. Phlourish (phlourish.ph) is celebrating their first year of registration this August! Before ending the first year, Phlourish has started pilot testing their mental health workbook for adolescents. They currently have 172 users across five municipalities, working with two CSO partners. Aside from using the toolkit itself, the pilot involves orienting adolescents and their parents about the program and weekly check-ins between users and mentors. Users are now on different weeks of the program. They also secured another grant from the Mental Health Funding Circle for their Spring 2024 grants.
Animal Empathy Philippines. AEP, in collaboration with ALL for YOUTH (AFY) and the City Veterinary Office - General Trias City, did a farm community visit in Brgy. Manggahan, General Trias. Here they distributed food and vitamins to farmed animal owners last July 19.
