In response to the needs expressed by community members, you’ll notice a lot more resources in this newsletter which will also be posted in the EA Philippines Facebook group. We hope this will help the community come across opportunities, resources, and events much more easily. Read on to learn about the developments we have in store to improve the experience of our members!

EAGxVirtual and EAGxSingapore are currently accepting applications! We highly recommend these conferences for local EAs here in the Philippines. See their respective details below:
EAGxVirtual - link
EAGxVirtual 2024 will take place November 15-17 online. The conference will focus on a diverse range of cause areas, local community building, and knowledge sharing. It will offer networking, workshops, presentations, and small group gatherings for around 1000 attendees dedicated to addressing some of the world’s greatest challenges.

EAGxSingapore - link
EAGxSingapore is intended for both individuals who are new to the effective altruism (EA) community and for those who are professionally engaged with EA, mostly community members based in Southeast and East Asia.
This year’s EAGxSingapore will build on the knowledge and successes of past conferences in Southeast Asia and aim to balance accessibility with higher-context EA material through networking, talks, workshops, and more.

Community Survey Report and Action Steps
Last September, EA Philippines released a mid-year community survey. With the help of all the respondents, we have our report on the general engagement of our members, their needs assessment, the barriers to their engagement with EA PH, and the effectiveness of EA PH programs and activities.
Thank you to everyone who put aside the time to tell us what they think! EA Philippines will make it a point to best address the needs expressed by the community. You can also view the "Action Plans" section of the report to see our steps moving forward. See the report here.

Individual Donations: ~Php204,500
CEA Group Support Funding: ~ Php 395,000
Total amount raised: ~Php3,124,500
Total minimum funding goal: ~Php 1,606,700
Total preferred funding goal: ~Php 2,566,000
This means we’ve currently covered ~123.9% of our preferred funding goal.

🇵🇭 Philippine EA: Local News
Our local EA-aligned initiatives and organizations are continuing their tremendous work in doing the most good they can. We’d like to highlight and commend the recent milestones and achievements of the following local EA initiatives:
Condor Camp Global Southeast Asia. Applications are opening soon for Condor Camp Southeast Asia. The camp will be held in Singapore from December 17 to 19, 2024. Fill up their interest form to be notified first. See the “Upcoming Programs, Workshops, and Reading Groups” section below for more information.
Animal Empathy Philippines is looking for volunteers and hiring for a program and admin associate. See the “Jobs, Internships, and Volunteering” section below for more information.
WhiteBox Research. Clark Urzo, co-founder of WhiteBox Research, was recently selected as part of StellarPH’s PH100 for 2024. The #PH100 celebrates the most ambitious and brightest minds under 30 in the Philippines. You can check out Clark’s recognition here. Additionally, on October 23, WhiteBox Research held a talk by Ayrton “AJ” San Joaquin, a Filipino research analyst at AI Standards Lab who shared his reflections on AI safety and governance research.
